The Club would use it to purchase sporting equipment needed to support Rugby League for over 90 boys who compete in the Group 20 Rugby League competition each weekend during winter.
The teams, Under 7,9,11,12,13,14 travel 350km (return) from Hay to either Griffith or Leeton EACH weekend WITHOUT receiving one home game.
The town is in the grip of a 10 year severe drought and the Rugby League Club has struggled to keep its head above 'dust'.
Assistance would be gratefully acknowledged.

Mick "Hay Junior magpies know the meaning of dedication which is a life s**** they will have forever. The parents work very hard for this club to be a success."
Steve "It's more than a sport for Hay. League is their lifeblood and juniors are not just the key to a strong team, but a strong town. Hay doesn't just hope for a good weekend, they work hard to survive every day of the week - and do it so well."
Janine "An inspirational level of commitment!"
Dean "Alot of hard work goes into making a successful club and something like this is a bonus."
Sharni "This Club is a very community based organisation which does great things in keeping the 'family' aspect of Rugby League alive. The amount of travelling the teams are required to do each year just to participate - without the luxury of at least ONE home game is amazing, no make that bloody amazing."
Sharni "What a terrific offer from NRMA/Rebel Sports. We way out 'in the sticks' appreciate support like this to give us an opportunity to maintain our sporting heritage despite the gloom in the district from the effects of the severe drought. We have proven we are tough enough to cope with adversity."
Monte "The Junior Magpies Motto says it all
Motto for the Future -
"Let's dream big, let's dream positive,

Let's be determined and committed,
Let's not forget our values and ethics
Let's be firmly grounded to our roots,
and let success follow us."
- Monte George King"
Donna "The Hay Junior Magpies provide a great 'outlet' for parents of the outback to give the kids an opportunity to play competitive sport which is so important in their personal development.
The fact that Hay is isolated makes the parents more determined to overcome the tyranny of distance and give the boys every opportunity those in the City and Regional Centres take for granted."
Don "Don "Hay Junior Magpies, A great Club with terrific Coaches, a Hard Working Committee, an entusiastic President and FANTASTIC kids. Well done & Congratulations on a successful 2009.""
Peter "The tradition lives on - Hay Magpies JRLFC has been a healthy outlet for Hay youngsters for decades. Keep up the great work."
Peter "The cost of outfitting the players, the cost of transporting the boys to venues is high, and any assistance the Club could be given by way of vouchers would be used in an appropriate way, to purchase sporting equipment and football jumpers for the teams. Great work NRMA/Rebel Sports"
Peter "How cool would it be for the little town of Hay and its Junior Rugby League Club to receive a NRMA/Rebel Sports award. The NRMA because of the distances we have to travel for our sport, is a vital part of our community. What would we do without the NRMA breakdown service not being available. Terrific way to support struggling sporting Clubs -"
Ken "What a great initiative for probably the greatest little town on earth, the place is just a buzz during the football season, some great kids have come out of Hay and with this type of support there will be plenty more come out of the town, remember you must dream it before you can become it !!!!!!!!!"
Sandra "Hay Junior Rugby League has been a wonderful opportunity for our kids to socialise with other children their own age/gender. Our children go to a School with only 9 children so being involved with Hay Junior Rugby League is their one opportunity to play a team sport with a great club. Its worth the average 350km round trip most Sa****ays! When you see the friendships they make."
Patty "The survival of the Magpies Juniors is a credit to the determination of such a resilient bunch of parents and workers who epitomize the saying "When the going gets tough, the tough get going". Well done NRMA/Rebel Sports for this initiative to give struggling bush communities the opportunity to survive against all odds."
Hannah "I just love the Junior Magpies and the good they do for the kids of this town. The town thrives on sport and the Rugby League Club is such a close knit family organisation, which is very important in this depressed time due to the drought."
nick "A dedicated mob whose effort and initiative is ensuring bush footy survives despite the doomsayers."
Toby "Mighty Magpies, mighty Club.Keep going strong..."
Paul "I pla*** all my junior footy with the Maggies. Lifetime mates and great memories. Good luck"
Steven "NRMA and Rebel Sport - what a great project especially to us battlers in the bush. Little town doing its best to survive and programs like this one show that Corporate Australia does give a ****."
BERT "Hays Junior Rugby League Club makes the sport available to children who otherwise would not be able to play. Fundraising is always difficult in a small community, the committee works hard to allow all kids to participate. NRMA and Rebel Sports offer would be a tremendous boost for the club."
Denis "Hay is a far west town doing it tough in a way City folks would find hard to appreciate. A small town community of 3,000 punching well above its weight! ....Denis Sullivan"
Cathy "Life is not easy for families in the bush. The dedication and expense for parents to get their kids to every game - all at least one and a half hrs away from home is amazing. Don't know how they keep doing it!!! Thats what good parents and good Magpies do!! Help our country kids please."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "Thanks to everyone who has shown their support to the Club. We have a great family tradition and it shows by you all adding these wonderful comments. Thanks, it means so much to the Club officials - Parra"
jasen "Go Magpies the club has grown in a time when things are tough parrents have been asked to travel every week & the club is one of the best organised sporting groups in the district with substantial success in having kids get to games & go on to making rep sides & being successfull in competitions such as Junee knockout times are tough but these little bush communities are tougher any help available will be a fgantastic encouragement for a deserving club well done Maggies BULLY"
Philip "The Junior Magpies - an iconic Club for Hay. Always has been alway will be thanks to the dedication of the people of this tough little town - Philip"
Jake "Gives children something to do on weekends and is a good environment to be in as a kid."
Peter "Thanks Jasen (Bully) Philip (Emu) and Jake. Your support in this quest is fantastic. Get onto all your friends and get them to log on as a supporter as well. Junior Magpies do it better when the going is tough.

Hay Jnr Rugby League Club ""See the Hay Magpies website.. www.haymagpies.leaguenet.com.au to see just how community minded and family orientated Rugby League is in our proud town.
Adversity makes us stronger.""
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "First of all, let me say this “TAKE A SHOT AT GLORY” What a great initiative by NRMA and Rebel Sports, and a super boost to sport, especially to a small community like ours that has been in the grips of a severe drought for the past decade.
Despite the hardships, the community of Hay has stuck together and worked hard at providing sporting opportunities to the town’s young sporting people.
An outstanding example of this is the Hay Junior Rugby League Club which participates in the Group 20 Junior Rugby League competition.
Hay is an isolated community on the junction of three major highways – The Cobb, Sturt and Mid Western.
To play Rugby League, the Club is required to travel long distances EVERY Sa****ay – to either Griffith or Leeton, without the opportunity of playing a home ground.

The Junior Rugby League fields teams in Under 7, two in Under 9, Under 11, Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14, has a total of in excess of 90 players registered.
Once the boys graduate from Under 14 Rugby League, they move into Senior competition where the Club competes in Under 16, Under 18, Women’s League Tag, and Reserve grade in the Group 20 competition
The cost of outfitting the players, the cost of transporting the boys to venues is high, and any assistance the Club could be given by way of vouchers would be used in an appropriate way, to purchase sporting equipment and football jumpers for the teams.
If required, the jumpers could be emblazoned with NRMA – or Rebel Sports logo, so as to give recognition of the Award.
The Junior Rugby League players are coached in the right aspects of the game of Rugby League.
The Club has a strong code of conduct that players, officials, parents and supporters are required to adhere to. The Club has a very strong re****tion as being a family Club, with the emphasis on participation, rather than success at any cost."
Rachael "what a great club we have in the junior hay magpies. keep up the great work"
Chris "With the wonderful administration team managing Hay Jnr Rugby League Club, parents know their children can play rugby league in a safe and secure environment. Congratulations to all involved in this fantastic group."
Lochie "I love playing footy with the Hay Magpies we all have great fun working as a team."
Noel "What a great promotion"
Dale "Go you Maggpies"
Joanne "Thanks to the Junior Magpies for the wonderful role models that they have within their club, the dedicated committee and parental support within. A great way to spend your Sa****ays!"
Brenda "This was my last year as a junior magpie mum. My first year was way back in 1998. We have travelled many, many kms, had many early starts, but it has all been worth it to see how much the kids have enjo*** their journey through the junior ranks. This is a special club, the level of support is amazing and it would be a worthy winner of this fantastic award. I hope to be able to go to the Hay park next year to watch the juniors play. It's very unfair on the club to not get one home game all season, as was the case this year. I look back over the past 11 years fondly, and will always support the club. I will miss sa****ay mornings cheering the kids on. Good Luck HJMRLC"
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "Get onto ALL supporters of the Club to support this fabulous promotion. Just think how far a grant from NRMA/Rebel Sports would go to keeping the Mighty Magpies battle against adversity on the front foot. Thanks to all who have shown there support. Get onto ALL your friends to come on board. Everyone in our community loves the Junior Magpies. The Club continues to provide the battling kids of the bush with hope and opportunity.
The kids of today, are the community leaders of tomorrow. - Parra"

Delesa "Junior Magpies are a strong club and get stronger as they go. Love you Donna, go you good thing."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club ""-Received this message of goodwill from former local Solicitor and leading citizen Garry Perrot. It makes terrific reading and one proud that a Club could be so well thought of.
"It's a mistake to judge a country town by its cover, judge it by studying the community which occupies it. There are two events in Hay which make it a standout community: one is any funeral, as sad as it is the community happily pulls together as one to celebrate the life of the departing community member; the second is any sporting event whenm Hay is playing sport against another town - the feeling of community unity is overwhelming and unbelievably enjoyable. If we wish Hay's broader community to continue to be what it is today, we need to invest our community resources into junior sport, just as the Hay Junior Rugby League Club is doing - take a minute to think what that Club does, how it does it, and the results - a picture will emerge in your mind of a wonderful contribution being made to a wonderful community - well done HJRLFC."
Thanks Garry, proud of your support - Parra"
diane "week after week all the junior players for Hay Magpies wake up so early and travel a huge distance to play their beloved sport, this dedication and enthusiam every week shows how much our kids and their families love the game and love our club"
Stacey "What an amazing club. My son only pla*** 1 season with the Maggies and he loved it! The club are welcoming and supporting. The amount of travel involved is unbelieveable, however the kids get out of bed every Sa****ay morning ready to go and always with a smile on their faces, they love their football.
Well Done Magpies!!!"
emma "I would just like to say...GO THE PIES!!!!! Give em hell guys!
For such young men you are all doing really well and hopefully find your way to the top! Be all you can be!!"
scott "As a player i think the club is very good"
Jol "Hay junior RL is the business...its more than a club because it is the sports club that most represents the town and is also one of its greatest ambassadors."
Jol "Today, RL has become a global phenomenon and support for Hay junior RL has spread spectacularly around the Murrumbidgee. The number of club members from outside of Hay is increasing daily, and the club wants to respond to that show of passion for the Magpies. This has developed into a need and an obligation. And the best way for the club to do that has been to take a step further and become more than a club. This club that is so concerned for its people needs to be recognised."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "Thank you all for this wonderful show of support. Please get onto all your friends and get them to join in and show encouragement to the Club in is quest to be a part of this fantastic promotion by NRMA/Rebel Sport.
We all now how tough it is to survive the isolation and drought, but we are resilient and supportive of each other to get through and get stronger.
There is NO community like Hay for pitching in and helping one another. Very very encouraging to people who put many hours into developing the youth to be come the future leaders of the community. Proud of you all ---Parra"
Vince "Hay Junior Magpies deserve all the support we can muster. It is the vehicle for more friendships, fitness and self esteem. Our young are our future. They need continued funding to keep this important mission moving ahead."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "We believe the children of our community are the future - great country kids who will grow into the strength of our town by participating in healthy competitive sport - Parra"
Jane ""Junior Magpies" are a wonderful and dedicated group of country people who work hard giving children the opportunity to play league. The town is generous and giving but a bonus of what is being offered from NRMA & Rebel Sports would mean so much for this club. The drought is relentless but Hay is determined to provide for its children and this bonus would be a reward for the community as a whole."
Robbie "Hay develoment of their juniors is something you cannot measure. In the bush the continual drought and its resulting economic climate is a challenge for families, and this development is a morale booster for the area."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "When we reached 150, we had five percent (5%) of the Shire's po****tion of 3,000 supporting the Junior Club's quest.
Lets try and get that up to (at least) 20 percent. To do that we are going to NEED your support. Get onto all your friends and encourage them to join in. C'mon..when the going gets tough, that's when Hay people are seen at their best.....Parra"
Sherran "Past players and supporters have put their efforts into ensuring the future of rugby in Hay by passing on their s****s to the junior players and deserve to be acknowledged for their passion and committment."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club ""When you walk through a storm,

Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "See Post above from Gary Perrot.
This was his message...

Kev & Di"
Kevin "The most rewarding thing I have ever done is to coach Junior Magpies. Nothing else compares. Kev"
Mitchell "I loved every minute of playing junior league for the Magpies and can't wait til I am back in Hay so I can coach a junior team myself and give back something towards what the Junior Magpies Club has given to me. Mitch"
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "200 registered supporters represents 6.66% of the town. Plenty more to log on yet to support this wonderful Club that is doing GREAT things to develop its young citizens. The boys (and girls) are learning the meaning to 'toughing it out', the meaning of 'play up, play up and play the game', learning respect for equipment and fair play, learning how to do the right thing by parents and followers who SUPPORT the teams rather than belittle opponents. The Junior Magpies and its administration and coaches deserve ALL the praise that comes to them for their efforts. To say the community is proud of the Club is a GROSS understatement......Parra"
Edna "Junior Magpies has been a good development for my grandkids"

adam "On behalf of the Yenda Blueheelers we wish your club luck in chasing this much needed funding. Clubs such as yourselves, TLU, etc that have to travel so much must do it tough. Yet I know how much your sport means to the town. Couldn't think of a more deserving winner."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "The support we are getting is AMAZING. You know 240 out of total po****tion of 3000 represents 8%..incredible effort..and the Club appreciates your support. ray "Teriffick support for the kids"
Philip "Proud to be a supporter of the junior magpies club. I pla*** all my kids football with the junior magpies, way back when the late Ron H was getting it off the ground. He would be pleased to see that it has grown into such a good Club doing mighty things in developing good footballers into good people. One thing hasn't changed in the long time since then - travel. I don't know how parents can keep it up. It must be c***** from Hay to Griffith and Leeton than the other way because Clubs think Hay is too far away. Anyway good luck in this competition. You deserve ALL the success that comes your way. Love you Donna and Dino..keep up the good work, and g'day to Parra."
Hannah "Magpies are a good bunch of players and also have great supporters. GO MAGGIES Hannah McGufficke"

Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "Thanks Dave, that's a great tribute for the Club. Just those few words says it all...Parra"
Richard "Keep up the good work Pete."
Derek (Ironman) "What can I say that has not already been said?. Ten year drought, state of
the economy, no home games, enormous amount of travel (and cost)....all
these things combined are not enough to keep Hay Junior Magpies from
providing their kids with the opportunity to play the game they love.Witn a
dedicated committee and un-paralleled community support they not only learn
to play rugby league in the true spirit of the game, but are learning many
important life s****s along the way. Rugby league is a team sport. Hay
Junior Magpies and it's supporters is "ONE HELL OF A TEAM".and I am proud to
be a supporter.

Joanne "Joanne My fondest memories of Hay mostly relate to sport, either playing, spectating or supporting. When you're given an opportunity to support and encourage a generous spirited club such as Hay Junior Magpies and do your bit for the youth in the bush you should, they really deserve any help you can give!"
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "We are up to 12% or almost an eighth of the total number of Hay residents with 366.
Plenty more to come. It is not often opportunities like these come for battling Clubs like ours way out here in the sticks.....Parra"

Sue "Mum and Dad, Jack and me love the Hay Juniors. They are a good Club, and I've heard girls LeagueTag is starting up in juniors next year, it will give us the chance to play, instead of just watching."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "Keep rollin, rollin, rollin..keep the message and dream alive. This support is AMAZING... Those who say it can't be done, are getting run over by someone DOING IT..Faith, hope and integrity are three emotions the Junior Magpies hand their caps on....Parra"

Danielle "keep up the great work hay magpies!!"
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "Keep chipping away. The next goal is 500 supporters..and then we aim for 600, or 20% of the community of Hay...Both very achievable with your help..."Let's all climb that mountain, that's what mountains are for.."
If we can achieve 600 it will send a message to NRMA that we are DESPERATE to see our little Club survive..and a grant would be a fantastic boost to a community ravaged by drought....Parra"
Ken "What about the ghosts of Hay Junior Rugby League, anyone remember all the old Coaches from the late 60's early 70's, a few spring to mind, Ronny Hunt, Shoulders Thompson, Pat Toole and Superstar to name a few, can anybody think of a few others."
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club ""Bob Nebauer, Robin Baird, John Woods, Jock McRae, , Geoff Snowdon, Fred Hobbs...just a few of the names who got Junior Rugby League in Hay up and running Today, thanks to an amazing group of volunteers, focused parents, and terrific lot of 'country bred kids' it is strong and focused and ready to meet ANY challenge thrown its way..

Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "WOW,just WOW - The magical 500 barrier is about to be crashed through. The support the Juniors have received in this FANTASTIC opportunity provided by NRMA/Rebel Sports, will help the Club develop against the odds, and survive to continue to produce outstanding young sportsmen, despite the adversity it faces.
The administrators can look to UN WORRY about the direction the Club is heading.

Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "On our way now towards 600 registered supporters. The Club's tally of 505 represents 22% of all nominations to be part of the great opportunity provided by NRMA/Rebel Sports.

Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "The AGM of the Juniors last week has re-elected a strong committee to guide the fortunes of the Club for 2010.
The Club is desperate to be successful in this competition to provide it with a light at the end of the tunnel. The Club is hoping for a grant so it can update the kids equipment, and set the Club up for a bright future, against the backdrop of this never ending drought, the need to travel EVERY weekend.
By travel that means 350km, ROUND TRIP to either Griffith or Leeton, up and away by 6.30 am, and back mid afternoon. That is 90 kids a week, every week
No such thing as a hop step and a jump to competitive sport out here in the back blocks.

Little Eyes Upon You
There are little eyes upon you
and they're watching night and day.
There are little ears that quickly
take in every word you say.
There are little hands all eager
to do anything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming
of the day he'll be like you.
You're the little fellow's idol,
you're the wisest of the wise.
In his little mind about you
no su****ions ever rise.
He believes in you devoutly,
holds all you say and do;
He will say and do, in your way
when he's grown up just like you.
There's a wide-e*** little fellow
who believes you're always right;
and his eyes are always opened,
and he watches day and night.
You are setting an example
every day in all you do;
For the little boy who's waiting
to grow up to be like you. Author Unknown.......Parra"

Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "One of the Club's good supporters told me the other day, that she'd thought this campaign by the Junior Magpies to take advantage of this generous offer by NRMA/Rebel Sport had 'hit the wall" She doesn't know the determination of the Club supporters to bring its plight to the attention of the judges. Hay Jnr Rugby League Club ""The support keeps rolling in. To say the Club is pleased with all the votes - plus the positive comments around the town for the Junior Magpies and this generous opportunity provided by NRMA/Rebel Sport - for an organisation like the Junior Magpies to keep developing and molding the character of our future leaders is just wonderful to hear.
The philosophy of the Junior Club is this - "Play football for the sheer enjoyment you get out of it - not because you have to win, or you're afraid to lose".....Parra""
Hay Jnr Rugby League Club ""Just love this poem by WILL ALLEN DROMGOOLE.
It is what the Hay Junior Rugby League Club is about. Setting example and encouraging all our kids and parents to think of others and play sport - and support sport - in a sporting manner.
THE BRIDGE BUILDER

An old man, going a lone highway,
Came at the evening cold and gray,
To a chasm, vast and deep and wide,
Through which was flowing a sullen tide.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim-
That sullen stream had no fears for him;
But he turned, when he reached the other side,
And built a bridge to span the tide.

"Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near,
"You are wasting strength in building here.
Your journey will end with the ending day;
You never again must pass this way.
You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide,
Why build you the bridge at the eventide?"

The builder lifted his old gray head.
"Good friend, in the path I have come," he said,
"There followeth after me today
A youth whose feet must pass this way.
This chasm that has been naught to me
To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be.
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
Good friend, I am building the bridge for him."

Hay Jnr Rugby League Club "Rollin on towards 20% of the total number of citizens in the Shire..600/3000 Great effort..
Keep it going...when we hit 600 I want everyone who has registered as a supporter to get at least 3 more FRIENDS at least for their support also. Let us show how much we appreciate this great opportunity by NRMA/Rebel Sport. A grant to our Club will not only boost the struggling Junior League, but the benefits to every other sporting Club and school in the Shire would be enormous.

This is time for ALL Community members to band together for a common goal - because we all know how much the Junior Rugby League activities mean to the 'growth' of esteem and confidence in the young boys and girls who play the game..for FUN.
Success in obtaining a grant will allow the Club to prepare for the future without putting further financial strain on a drought stricken town that has been struggling against all odds to survive. This opportunity by NRMA/Rebel Sports has provided 'hope' and a light at the end of the tunnel....Parra"

The Club has a wish list drawn up, and it depends on how much it would be allocated. The whole community has been quick to jump on board and provide support. This community knows that great opportunities like this being provided by NRMA/Rebel Sport do not come along very often. It's great to see a whole community supporting your club. My parents and I have travelled to Hay and know that the area is small. Wonderful to see everyone so supportive. Good luck with everything. I play for my local community league - we are known as the Butchers and our team (under 10 boys) won the premiership this year, it was a fantastic feeling.

Best of luck for everything you guys are doing.
